Kanye West- My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

Breakdown: Through the album's three singles, Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Friday program (Giving away a free download every Friday) and his full-length "Runaway" Film (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jg5wkZ-dJXA), we already have a good taste of what My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is going to be like. Nine out of the album's thirteen songs have been already been released to the public. Unlike his other four albums, he shares production. Production on the album includes:Kanye West(also exec.) No I.D., DJ Premier, RZA, Q-Tip, Pete Rock, Bink, Emile, Lex Luger, Jeff Bhasker, Mike Caren, Mike Dean, S1,Swizz Beatz. "Power" the albums first single, released in July, set the standard of emotion that Kanye is putting into this album. Emotion, is what seems to be the common thread for Fantasy's tracks. Kanye was not afraid to make the album how he saw it to be, which is evident from the album cover to the music to the film. It's angry, depressing and beautiful at the same time. However, musically, this is far from Kanye's best work. College Dropout, Late Registration and Graduation all take their spot over Fantasy in my rankings. Lyrically, Kanye may be in the best shape of his life but the hooks and beats fail to come close to timeless songs like "Through the Wire", "We Don't Care", "Touch the Sky", "Glory", etc. However, Fantasy goes above just a good rap album but a chance to bring true hip-hop back to the mainstream. Anyone that would have guessed Raekwon and Justin Bieber would be on a song together would be laughed at and called crazy, however Kanye continues to do the impossible. By matching up modern hot artists like Rick Ross, Kid Cudi and Nicki Minaj with golden-age producers such as Q-Tip, Pete Rock, DJ Premier, etc, Kanye gives all of us hip-hop junkies hope that real hip-hop will still be flourishing throughout the 21st century.

Overall: 8/10. Although this isn't Kanye's best work, compared to where the rest of rap is at, it's light years ahead. November 22, I will be lining up for my copy of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy,that defiantly has it's fair share of hits. Kanye's creativeness and musical genius is directly reflected in this album as he continues delivering product on a whole new level.
